Direct involvement of local community is an inseparable element of the community-based “Long Valley Eco-Heritage Tour” program. The program serves over 1000 public participants each year, with audience from local universities, primary and secondary schools, charities and corporate partners. Local eco-guides know the place the well, possessing in-depth direct experiences about the community development. Through their interpretation, visitors can have a more in-depth understanding about Long Valley. The program has successfully promoted village culture and enhanced villagers’ sense of belonging of the local community. Furthermore, profits from the program will be partially utilized for o advanced training and oversea interflow program for the eco-guide group, while community services such as elderly centre visits are held to reciprocate the community.
