Combating Climate Change > Hong Kong First Green Rehabilitation Bus Polit Scheme
About the Scheme | Press Release | Enquiry | Reference |
- Project Background
As global warming intensifies, countries worldwide have been proposing carbon reduction targets and policies to mitigate global climate change. In 2021, the Hong Kong government launched the "Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2050", aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. They also released the first " Hong Kong Roadmap on Popularization of Electric Vehicles" gradually phasing out private vehicles running on fossil fuels and actively promoting electric commercial vehicles to achieve zero emissions. However, social welfare organizations face difficulties in taking the first step towards green transformation in transportation due to a lack of relevant resources and technical support.
In light of this, the "Hong Kong First Green Rehabilitation Bus Pilot Scheme" fully supported by The Hongkong Bank Foundation and organized by The Conservancy Association, will subsidy the purchase of electric rehabilitation buses (Green Rehabus), installation of charging facilities, and provide technical support and monitoring. Throughout the two-year pilot period, we will gather data on various operational modes and the functioning of Green Rehabuses. Upon completion of the pilot, we will share the project results with social welfare organizations and stakeholders to facilitate the continued promotion of electric rehabuses.
- Project Objectives
-
- Collaborate with seven social welfare organizations to replace existing diesel rehabilitation buses with electric ones or acquire new electric rehabilitation buses.
- Consolidate the collected experience, including procurement processes, operational models, service types and targets, charging modes, and maintenance, into an "Electric Rehabilitation Bus Guide" to provide clear guidance to social welfare organizations. This will help them efficiently utilize funding resources (such as the Environmental Protection Department's New Energy Transport Fund) to environmentally friendly vehicles and achieve future carbon reduction goals.
- Project Highlights
-
- Full subsidy and support for participating organizations to purchase electric rehabilitation buses (including internal configurations) and install charging facilities.
