Used Clothes Collection for The Environment > Community Used Clothes Collection Bank Scheme
Introduction of Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank Scheme – North District, Tai Po District, Sha Tin District and Sai Kung District
“Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank” is a community Participation Scheme (the scheme) launched by the Home Affairs Department (HAD). The Scheme facilitates the public to donate used clothes in support of environmental protection and charities.
The Scheme is a partnership of The Conservancy Association (CA) with the three other non-governmental organizations (NGOs), HAD, the Government and District Councils (DCs). The Scheme Managers have to purchase and deliver collection banks to the designated locations as instructed by HAD. They also have to ensure smooth and continuous operation and management of all banks, including prompt clearance of the banks to avoid environmental nuisance. Apart from operating the banks themselves, the Scheme Managers have to assign no less than 50% of the banks to other interested organizations in an open and fair manner prior to each season.
CA is responsible for managing the community used clothes recycling banks in North district, Tai Po district, Sha Tin district, and Sai Kung district. For those located in other districts are operated by other scheme managers. For more details, you may also click here to visit the website of Home Affairs Department:
