Two new community used clothes recycling banks have been added
Since the launch of the “Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank Scheme” in 2006, the Home Affair Department (HAD) has continued to appoint CA as one of the 4 scheme managers, and to provide recycling services for the general public at Sai Kung, Northern, Tai Po and Sha Tin districts. In addition, CA has received funding from HAD to produce another batch of used clothes recycling banks. Food Wise Week 2021-22
Last November, FRRC organized two wet market food recovery experiential activities for two volunteer teams from HKUST Connect and Rotary Youth Service Group of the University of Hong Kong Student Union. Surplus food recovery is not an easy task. The volunteer teams accompanied the centre staff, pushing trolleys with plastic boxes with lids to collect food from the Lei Muk Shue wet market at night. Recovering food is highly labor-intensive work. Each plastic box filled with food may weigh more than 30kg, and at least two people are required to pick up the plastic box full of food. Wish You Luck in the Year of Tiger: A Green Journey in the Countryside
In the year of Ox, the 7th Hang Seng – CA Eco-Rangers, with “Healing Hills” as its theme, gathered around 500 Eco-Rangers in the form of 4-person spontaneous volunteer teams to clean 8 selected routes in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories throughout September to December 2021. Nearly 60 kg of litter and over 200 kg of recyclables were collected along 70 km of hiking trails (distribution as above). Our records have shown that litter was found hanging on the branches and/or lying on the bushes or near streams. Plastic bottles, snack packaging, plastic bags and other plastic wastes were common.
