It’s October. Coupled with strong winds and low humidity, hill fires often occur especially during the Chung Yeung Festival. According to the Fire Services Department’s statistics, in 2017, 41 hill fires broke out during the Chung Yeung Festival, which the number was much higher than daily average of 2.7. And the success of no hill fire last year was attributed to the co-operation of different parties.
To promote hill fire prevention, “No Hill Fire” has been organized during the Chung Yeung Festival since 2006 and supported by HK Electric for 13 years. This year, in addition to newspaper advertisement to urge the public to exercise caution and prevent hill fires while participating in outdoor activities, we have also stepped up promotion via social media platforms to bring the message of “No Hill Fire” across to all walks of life.
